Day 24  - 8/8/03  - Friday

Up and out of the room for 10.. We move to the de Costa so we're all in the same place. Transport to Bagamoyo is arranged, I finally get a chance to explore the town a little. Buy large quantities of bottled water which is a welcome change from boiled water from a stream. I do some washing with  Francis which takes hours because of the dust from Kilimanjaro. Lucky old me I'm the leader so its my job to get the equipment checked. I task Robert, Simon, Francis and Colin to the task. This turns out to be a mistake as none of them had ever folded a tent... Let alone knowing what needs doing to maintain one! I give a basic demonstration and try to finish my washing. I'm interrupted on many occasions by simon objecting to having to do some work. Also by the fact I'm the only one who can reach the lines which the tents are hung onto to dry. The kit is finally in some kind of order. I head up to the bar where some of the locals who took us up Kilimanjaro are, I get called Mike for several hours by a drunk/stoned porter. Jenny is stuck with a drunk porter who thinks she will marry him.. We agree to take 2 of the guides on our bus to the coast. We eat at the sake house which is apparently very nice... Its certainly slow! The entertainment is provided by a local trying to play an accordion with a angry cat stuck in it.. Which only adds to my impression of the place. Sleep.
