Day 4  - Saturday  - 19/7/2003

Got up. Did some washing. Went to find Will. Went with Will to the school, on the way had a quick tour of shanty town, ironically the place were the well-to-do live. The road to the school was very bumpy even in a 4x4, but it was beautiful tropical style scenery around it. Only 12 km from hotel but it took 25 min. Amazing setting, with views of Kilimanjaro and its foothills. Shown around the school by the head of the school council, decided to aim to paint 2 rooms and make a floor for another. Headed back to Moshi for supplies and the rest of the group. Got supplies, with the help of the boss of the local paint factory who we met in one of the shops. Had lunch. Loaded ourselves and our kit into a pick-up, (OK so it took 2 trips!) And our supplies and Skinner, Gareth and my self into another. We start out along that bumpy road. Great fun! Arrived back at the school, were greeted by staff and 100 or so children despite it being a Saturday. 8yr old children were unpacking our bags (which some of us struggle with) from the pick-up! We put up the tents for the first time, very impressed, nice size tents, very easy to put up as the whole lot is colour coded! Put up a washing line, and did some washing to put on it! Ate well as we had cooked and then the village had prepared food for us as well. The school has no electricity but they've run a cable from a nearby house so that we can have some light in one of the class rooms, and the 'toilet' for the evenings. Slept well as there is so little noise, apart from crazy dogs and some strange hamster like creatures that live in trees!
